RomCon Tax Relief Blog Hop

15 Apr

It’s tax day! Not really something to be super excited about, but hey, any reason to party, right?

I am just excited that it’s mid-April and even though it’s snowing as I write this, it’s going to be warm and summery soon! This year is shaping up to be a really interesting one for us. Although every year since 2011 when our first book was released has been interesting, and each one is getting a little better.

Both my Master (Reggie) and I have lost our jobs as a direct result of writing alternative romance, but personally I couldn’t be happier about that. In the year and a half since I got laid off, we’ve published four books, with another due out in June. I’ve always wanted to be a writer, and the combination of having more time and actually being accountable to someone to sit down and do it has really paid off. We’ve been kind of reeling as a family over Reggie losing his job (stupid small-town politics) but we’re all confident that it’s leading to better things and we’re concentrating on using the time he has now to get another couple of books done and ramping up our marketing efforts, both for the books and our chainmail business.

We’ve also got a new family member, and I’m really excited that she’s going to be a huge asset in many ways. She’s already teaching us about better nutrition (she’s a trained chef-hallelujah!) and is learning chainmail and getting ready to start her own book.

This year we’re trying to boost our chainmail sales by hiring reps to sell our stuff to more stores. We have three reps so far and have high hopes of increasing our wholesale activity.

So lots of interesting and possibly good things going on. Here’s a small sample from our sixth book (tentatively titled “Writes of Submission”):

Once she was in place he opened the duffle bag and pulled out several coils of rope. Seeing the surprised look on both of their faces he said, “I think you’ll really like this. Many people have told me that the ropes give them a feeling of security that they never expected. Now Nikki, snuggle back into Dante.”

When she had pressed her back to the front of the other man, Kane smiled. “Nikki, place your right hand over your left breast and your left hand over your pussy.”

Nikki gave him a questioning look.

“Trust me, beautiful. Do as I say.”

Slowly her hands took the places he had indicated. He nodded his approval at her. “Okay. Now, Dante, put your hands on top of hers.”

There was no hesitation in Dante’s response. Kane watched Nikki’s face as the other man’s arms encircled her and then molded to her own, drawing her closer to his body. He seemed to make sure as much of his front was in contact with her back as possible. Nikki looked self-conscious, as if she was starting to slide out of the altered state of mind he had gotten her into earlier.

Leaning forward and bracing one arm on the bed between her spread legs, Kane placed another kiss on her lips. “That’s our girl. It feels good having him hold you like that, doesn’t it?”

“Yes.” Her voice went soft and dreamy again.
