Our trip to RT

9 May

This isn’t a specific Mother’s Day post, but we had such a great time at the RT Booklovers Convention last week in Kansas City that I have to write about it!

Let’s see, how do I describe all the fun? First of all, there were so many cool authors there, and many of our personal favorites. We got to talk to Alice Clayton, Marian Vere, Reece Butler, Marla Monroe, Eden Bradley, Eliza Gayle, Emleigh Walsh, Shayla Black, Lexi Blake, Jenna Jacob, Jenna Barton, Jenn LeBlanc, Delilah Marvelle, Corinna Davies, Peyton Elizabeth, Randi Alexander, Toni Aleo, Sorcha Black, Leia Shaw, Hennessee Andrews, Jane Ryland, and so many more.

Then there were the two workshops we actually got to do. We were worried that no one would show up to ours, but we had quite a nice little crowd. They didn’t seem too freaked out by our discussion of BDSM and power exchange, and actually asked questions! We gave away toys, books and jewelry, and it was a lot of fun.

We weren’t worried at all about our second workshop. Shayla Black and Lexi Blake had very generously agreed to do the panel with us, and we knew lots of people would come to see them! And they did. Shayla and Lexi even wore corsets for the occasion! We had a good crowd and a lot of fun. Reggie even did a few demonstrations and Shayla demonstrated her abhorrence of the idea of needles. Quite a few people came up to us after the workshops and told us that they’d learned a lot and it made them understand the psychology of BDSM much better than they had before. That was SO nice to hear.

We had a very special guest at that workshop that we got to meet later, Jessie Potts. She writes the HEA romance blog for USA Today, and she actually mentioned us the next morning (http://tinyurl.com/c4j98xb)! It was the first time we’ve been in a national paper and we were super excited about it. She was also a really, really sweet girl and didn’t file a restraining order on me last night when I started bombarding her with our books. šŸ™‚

By the way, our new book (“Writes of Submission”) comes out July 2 through Siren. Look for it at the end of June for pre-order!

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers out there!
