Bouncin’ around Florida…

24 Feb

Hello, all. Babs here. I have to apologize that I was out of touch for the last few weeks. As you may know, we’ve been hanging out in New Orleans quite a bit lately, and in the interests of fitting in to the local culture, we felt obligated to celebrate Mardi Gras. I mean, it’s only polite, right?

Okay, so maybe I went a little overboard. I may have spent the last few weeks in an alcohol-induced fog. All I really remember clearly is waking up with a splitting headache under a huge pile of Mardi Gras beads curled up next to the cute little alligator you can see in the picture. Her name is Cleo, and the humans tell me I caught her from a Mardi Gras float. They claim I fought off a group of tourists to get her, but I’m not sure I really believe that. It could be true, though. She’s very cute and cuddly, not at all how I pictured an alligator being. The parades (from what I remember) were a lot of fun, and there were a lot of them. The traffic gets so tied up that public transportation doesn’t even go from one side of town to the other.

Anyway, the humans have been on the move again. We went to a nudist festival in Loxahatchee, Florida, which was pretty cool,  and from there to the Edison Festival in Fort Myers. Downtown Fort Myers is very pretty. There’s a statue in the park where the festival was that showed Edison, Ford and Firestone, who apparently all lived there and were friends. We got lucky and were able to stay in the RV next to the park, which was convenient, but then we realized we were living under a bridge in a van down by the river, which sounds scary but really wasn’t all that bad.

In between we saw friends in Orlando and West Palm Beach.  I have to tell you, it is so nice to be in the warm weather near the ocean (or the Gulf–I get them confused) instead of in the snow. I could really get used to this. For those of you who are suffering through winter, know that we’re thinking about you as we walk on the beach in the sunlight. 🙂

Right now we’re heading back up South to New Orleans. Kasi has a job this weekend being an extra in a movie and she’s pretty excited about it. We’ve got a week or so before we really start our major touring schedule. It’ll be our first full year on the road doing shows full-time. Hoping for a successful, prosperous 2016.

Gotta bounce!
